Boy Scouts (Pack 20)

Description: Boy Scouts help young men get away from the television/computer/game system and into the outdoors. It helps young people learn and practice personal fitness, have pride in their country, community, and family. It also teaches them to be more confident and to set personal goals, then achieve them. Scouts attend weekly meetings, play games, build projects and go camping. Many activities are for families, including siblings.

Description: The Choir Group will have a workshop and concert with the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale in February and participate in the district-wide concert at the High School in April. The group will also be singing the National Anthem at the Sky Sox game on April 20 this year.

Jr. Choir

Schedule: Varies depending on which group. Practice will be one day per week for 30 minutes. Each group lasts for one quarter.

Description: Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
Hershey Track and Field Day
Eligibility: Boys and Girls 9-14 years old (as of December 31, 2013)
Schedule: TBD - in late April or early May

K-Kids (Kiwanis)

Description: A Kiwanis-sponsored youth group focused on community service.
Landsharks Running Club Spring Track 2012
Grade eligibility: K-6
Schedule: Will start again in April, date TBD. Practices will be after school twice a week. There will be 3 meets on weekday evenings.

Description: Landsharks is a fantastic program that promotes self-improvement and health through teamwork, running, and games. It is also a great way to help kids with other running-related sports (i.e., soccer, football, basketball, etc) and introduce them to running and low-key competition!

Sport Stacking (Cup stacking)

Description/benefits: Sport stacking helps students develop bilateral proficiency equal performance on both sides of the body. By increasing bilateral proficiency, a student develops a greater percentage of the right side of the brain, which houses awareness, focus, creativity and rhythm. Stacking helps train the brain for sports and other activities where the use of both hands is important, such as playing a musical instrument or using the computer. Sequencing and patterning are also elements of sport stacking, which can help with reading and math skills.
S.T.U.C.O. (Student Council)

Description: Student councils often serve to engage students in learning about democracy and leadership. The student council helps share students’ idea, interests and concerns with teachers and school principals. They often also help raise funds for school-wide activities, including social events, community projects and school reform. Many members learn skills that were an extension of their formal education.
Y.E.S. Club (Young Environmental Stewards)

Description: Y.E.S. Club is an award-winning, innovative, science-based program designed for 4th and 5th graders. It combines environmental science, community service, technology and leadership in one fun and active after school program.
