Since the inception of our school, incredible amounts of parent support, communication and networking
have been an integral part of the school. We look back at years of commitment and hard work of many people that
provided us with precious time, talent, and treasure through an organized PTO for which we are truly grateful. In the last couple of years, we have observed the changing climate of our community. We don’t seem to have a need and/or desire to be involved in the hierarchy or the formal structure of a traditional PTO with its presidency, vice-presidency, committees, etc.; and we do long for friendliness, togetherness, and better understanding of big ideas that guide our quest in the education of our children.
We believe in the model that provides a greater opportunity for more people to be involved in small ways – a Columbine parent and families network organization. We, staff and parents alike, offer each other a “shoulder to lean on” hoping to speak to each other’s hearts along the way. Each classroom has a room parent to facilitate the most natural relationship between a teacher and her/his parents. Additionally, a parent liaison for each grade level will be providing a link between the staff and room parents and vice versa.
